2 month appointment stats

Anna weighed in at 12lbs 15 oz which is the 95% and 24 1/2 inches long! Her length was off the charts so they put it at 97%. She's going to be tall like her mom and dad...like we were surprised.

She also got 5 shots and the liquid rotovirus vaccine. It was pretty tough to watch but she was a trouper and was happy just as soon as they finished...I was, of course, still drying my tears!

little Abbie

For some reason, this makes me laugh....here's the story.

So, the dogs sleep on their dog beds in the back of our closet. First, the jump on the bed and sleep a bit while we read/get settled in and then they hear the dreaded words.."Go to Bed". So they reluctantly hop down and go to the closet. We used to put a basket in front of the closet door so they won't come back out but we haven't had to do that in awhile. They just stay sleeping in there until they hear us in the morning.

Lately, I have been hearing these little "tack-tacks" on the bathroom floor coming back into the bedroom. These are very hesitant dog steps...and I can always tell it is Abbie. She comes into the bedroom and either John or I will hear here and say, "Abbie, Go back to bed". She will pause and then I hear the "tack-tacks" headed back to the closet.

I can just hear her muttering...crap, they heard me.

Video!

Here is a video we took over the Thanksgiving holidays! Can you believe how big Anna is getting? I just love it when she smiles like that. Trying to upload more videos but they are too big for blogger.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving surrounded by lots of family and food!

An addition to my previous post...

I forgot to add a couple details to my previous post that I felt were the most important of all. The feeling I had when Anna came into this world was absolute and unbelievable joy and happiness. I wept openly with a big smile on my face. She is an absolute blessing and an amazing addition to our family. We can't imagine life without her now.

She seems to be growing so fast. She has her second Pediatricians appointment today! Dr. Ewing at Green Hills Peds is wonderful and gives great advice and guidance.

I honestly could stare at her all day...

And she came with a dramatic entrance...

I wanted to take the time and record all the details of our little girl's birth so we will be able to share it with her later on. After three doctor's appointments with no change from 1cm and 70% effaced, we had prepared ourselves for a long wait for Anna to make an appearance. We did have an ultrasound on Wednesday, October 14 to make sure she was still head down and for a weight estimate. The estimate came to 8lbs 6oz with still a week and a half until my due date! Yikes!!!

That Saturday night, John and I went to meet up with my sister who was in town with all of her friends. They rented a house in Goodlettsville and we were going to babysit my niece and nephew and one other 9 month old, Gib. We arrived and hung around as the group gathered for a night down at the honky-tonks. About 5 minutes before they left, I suggested I take a picture of all of them. I stood up, took about 10 steps and thought to myself, "Oh my gosh, I am peeing on myself"...and then I realized...Nope, my water broke! I grabbed my sisters arm and exclaimed out loud, "Umm..my water just broke!!!!". So gush after gush comes, someone hands me a towel and I just sit and process what is about to happen. John, a little white faced, comes over to me and calls the doctor who says...head to the hospital!

We run home, pack the bag and head to the hospital. We check in around 8:30pm where they process my paperwork and check for any changes. And nope, no change, still at 1cm. They move us down to our Labor & Delivery suite (around 9:00pm) and start the IV and pitocin to get the contractions going. At about midnight, I was about 2cm and had received the epidural after some very, very strong contractions. Soon, I was at 5-6cm and then 7cm within MINUTES! One hour later, I was at 10 cm and ready to go! After only about 45 min of pushing, our little girl arrived absolutely perfect. She arrived at 6:36am, 7lbs, 15oz, 20 inches long!

Amazing..

Anna has arrived! I promise to share more details of her arrival...but it will take just a bit of time so first I just wanted to put down a few thoughts about her first week.

Things I love about her:
The little squeek she makes after a yawn, the smiles in her sleep, the way she snuggles into my chest, the way she stares at me after feeding...I could go on and on. She sleep a lot and has an insatiable appetite which keeps John busy with her diaper changes.

We are sitting here on a Sunday morning, Anna sleeping, the dogs fighting for my lap to get in some "mom" time and immensely enjoying our new family and new life!

Here we go...

From my appointment last Friday, I am 1cm dilated and 70% effaced....which really doesn't mean anything. BUT I was happy to hear I am having some progress! I had some bad lower back pain and cramping earlier in the week...so I was glad it meant something.

Our next appointment is Friday where (fingers crossed) we will have more progress.

Now, I am just tired all the time and quite uncomfortable but hanging in there. Some days are definitely better than others!

More Nursery pictures

The nursery is getting close to complete! We are just waiting to get the glider and for me to figure out what I am doing with one of the walls...but other than that, we are ready for Anna!

My wonderful Aunt made the curtains and the window seat cushion.

Painting from John's Aunt Debbie. Isn't it awesome!!?!?

My grandmother made this for me when I was born, so glad to be hanging it up in Anna's nursery. Especially since they might share birthdays!

Little Miss Abbie

So, if it won't be enough to have a new baby and all the new things and stresses that come along with that....our littlest pup Abbie has decided that she would still like a lot of attention. She potentially has a torn ACL in her back right knee which will require surgery. A very expensive and long healing surgery. Awesome.

We aren't sure when it happened or even how it happened but we will know more when we get x-rays tomorrow.

Poor diggy pop.

Belly Shots...

These were from last week (34 weeks)...

33 weeks....really?

So this baby time seems to be going by pretty quickly...especially when I realized I haven't posted in awhile. We are going to the doctor every 2 weeks now for the next two visits, then every week. Everything is measuring normal and heartbeat still strong as ever! We discussed the fact she could be a big baby....and how we can prevent a 10lb delivery..haha. Pretty much we are at a wait and see until 36 weeks where they will do a u/s to estimate weight.

I am getting more and more uncomfortable and John would definitely say my patience is growing a little thin sometimes. I think last night I actually told the guy in the redbox line "Take your time, there's no one else waiting!!", which he then promptly got back in his car without a movie. Whoops.

I am in full blown nesting mode. Constantly organizing, redecorating and cleaning. Another thing that is driving John crazy..:)

Posting pictures in just a bit of the nursery and the big ol' belly.

Week 27

This week is shaping up to be pretty busy and flying by like all the others. Last weekend I finished the bedding for Anna's room and we started to put things together. We still don't have much for the walls but I have ordered her monogram for the wall above the crib and John's Aunt Debbie is creating a painting for us based on the crib fabric/Beatrix Potter! We can not wait to see it!

We have our 28 week appointment on Thursday and then we go back every 2 weeks. She is moving so much lately and has added new acrobatic rolls and pushing to her activity list. It makes for interesting evening entertainment. She normally wakes me around 4 or 5 am to say good morning with a nice full body kick to the belly button. :) She is a dancer (although hopefully more graceful than now) already! We honestly just can't wait to meet her.

John assembling the crib.

Abbie being the baby...:)

The crib bedding is complete! I am happily surprised with myself how it turned out! Now we just need to find the right pink crib sheet.

Anna's little reading/playing nook.

25 weeks & Anna's Room

So I am 25 weeks and 2 days today...can't believe how fast the time is going by. Over the past couple weeks we have been pretty busy...Blake & Leah's wedding, me in Colorado, Luke & John building a toy box and us getting a crib! I had a great time in Colorado Springs with Kristen taking care of Miss Emily Claire. I will post a video below of her giggles while we ate, but they were much better without the camera. :)

Here is my belly pics from July 6 and from today (stripe shirt)

Here is a picture of the WONDERFUL toy box Luke built for us and the crib bedding I started to sew.

I still need to fix the batting on the inside but so far so good!

Nursery in progress

Here is an example of "pregnancy brain" at its best. I go to Home Depot with my fabrics to pick out a paint color for the nursery. I found one that is perfect! I thought the name sounded familiar but didn't know why. So we get home, paint the nursery, it is perfect! Then John says as we lay in bed one night, "you know, the paint color in the nursery looks really similar to our bedroom". I was like, "no...couldn't be". OH, but sure enough, I found the paint can for the bedroom and it is the same..Coastal Beige. Sigh. At least I know I like the color!! The rooms do look completely different due to the beadboard in the nursery...but still, seriously???

Here are the fabrics I am using for the bumper and bedskirt. The tulle will be layered with the pink on top for the bedskirt. And the bumper will have the toile on the inside and the tan on the outside.

Here is the entrance to the nursery...all we have in there is the dresser!

Dresser...the drawers are still downstairs getting cleaned out. LOVE this antique piece in here!

New Floors!

Here are pictures of our new floors!! We just love them. All that is left to do is bring in the bookshelves in the family room (to the right of the couch), hide the TV cords and get a rug (and maybe an extra chair...now that we have more space after the rearranging)! We still are putting away items found during the cleanout and adding pictures to the wall. Enjoy!

Beach Time...

We headed down to Santa Rosa Beach to meet John's parents for a long weekend. We had just found out that we were having a girl and very much looking forward to some time on the water. Pam and I were able to hit the outlets and get some great outfits and John and I got to spend time on the sand. I am already ready to get back there...

19 weeks and 5 days!

It's a GIRL!!

We had our first ultrasound since this little one has become more than just a "sac" on June 3. And after three varifications--we are having a Girl!! We were so surprised as we were sure it would be a boy. She gave us some beautiful profile photos, stuck out her tongue and pointed at us for awhile. She has everything she should and all organs are present and accounted for.

Although I will say it was a little cruel and unusual for them to make a pregnant woman drink massive amounts of water and "hold it" for 45 min as the ultrasound tech presses on my bladder. Thank goodness I was distracted...

It was an amazing experience for John and I. Here are some photos!

It's a Girl alright...no boy parts here!

16 week appointment

We had our 16 week appointment on Monday, May 11. Another wonderful visit with Dr. Oldfield! Baby Roberts continues to have a strong heartbeat, in the high 150's. Our next appointment will be our gender ultrasound...and I know I am very ready! John has been so wonderful and patient with my crazy hormone mood swings, late night bathroom trips and other unpleasant pregnancy side effects. :)

Our baby is growing so much and I am starting to feel small flutters and "pops"!! It is a really wonderful time! I have so much energy and finally no real food aversions. My cravings are still fruit, especially watermelon recently.

We have started our list of house projects to finish before this little one arrives...and the list is LONG! But with time and patience, we will have this house ready for him/her!

My latest belly picture is below:

Our trip!

Paris was AMAZING!! And what made it even more amazing was the fact that my morning sickness practically disappeared the day we left! We arrived early on Friday morning and with a long trek to our hotel, crashed for a couple of hours. After that, we felt refreshed and ready to take on the city! The Eiffel Tower was only a couple blocks from our hotel, so that was our first stop.
We had beautiful weather for our first weekend with some cloudy skies on Mon-Wed. But that didn't stop us! We went to Notre Dame, Saint Chappelle, The Louvre (twice!), Musee D'Orsay, Sacre Couer, browsed the shops on the Champs Elysees, caught a show at the Lido (like Moulon Rouge), took at train to Chartres, and had a private tour of Reims & Epernay! Whew!!

Still going strong!

We just got back from our 12 week appointment and everything is great! We got to hear the heartbeat beating away in the mid 150's. She said it might take a minute to find so not to get nervous...but she found it immediately (much to our relief)!

She answered a lot of our questions about my headaches, medications and our upcoming travel plans. We were definitely relieved to hear I CAN eat some soft cheeses and enjoy small tastes of wine and champagne as we tour Paris and Reims. Not much relief was given to help with my plane riding anxiety except Benadryl (just to knock me out) or Dramamine.

Our next appointment is on May 11 at 11:15am for our 16 week check-up. We won't have another ultrasound until week 20 which will be our gender exam!

Time is just flying by!

12 weeks and 1 day

Today I am 12 weeks and 1 day! We can't believe how fast the weeks are flying by. We have a check-up tomorrow with the OB where we will get to hear the heartbeat again! I know we are both VERY much looking forward to that. After that, I think we will be more comfortable about sharing our good news!

So far, we think you are a little boy but the Wilkins side thinks you will be a girl! I guess someone will be right!

I have been feeling much better with smaller rounds of nausea and a little more energy. Unfortunately I have been getting more headaches (which the OB suspected I might with my history of migraines) which put me out of commission for awhile.

I will post a belly picture soon! It is just a small bump, but we see it! :)

Monday, March 16, 2009

Above is our 7w4day ultrasound! The tech and our Dr. said that everything looked great. We had a chance to hear the heartbeat again, this time it was beating away at 156bpm. I have another appointment on Wednesday for a check-up.

I have had some more morning sickness but nothing too extreme. I love the days when I can feel our baby "growing"!

Tuesday, March 3, 2009

It's Official!

We're having a BABY!! Above is our 6 week ultrasound. We got to hear and see the heartbeat pumping away at 114 bpm! It was just amazing. Everything looks normal and on track for a wonderful 9 months. Our next appointment is on 3/13/09!

So far no morning sickness, just utter exhaustion and late night trips to the bathroom. We are hoping to keep this blog updated so our friends and family know what's new with us!

Here we go!

So, it seems this is the cool thing to do now...so we jumped on the bandwagon. Check back often and see what is new in our life!
